Going to MEPS tomorrow..?

-So tomorrow at 10:30 I'm going to MEPS and staying the night. Is the 1st day the ASVAB and paperwork and the 2nd day the physical and stuff? Also as much info on what I need to bring and what it's going to be like would help. Do I need my own food/money for food? And what do they test you for in the physical?

This is for the army if it makes a difference.you are going to need some sort of ID, also bring your bank information because they will set up your pay there, or when you get to the basic training reception battalion. As far as food they will feed you, you will also more then likely be staying at a hotel with many other new recruits because 99% of the time you do not leave until the next day. So I would bring money in case you want to buy things to snack on, bring a phone card as well so you can call love ones. As for as the medical exam, they will give a full exam, as well as have you "duck walk" you will get a eye exam, hearing exam, things like that. They will also perform a drug/alcohol test. The Branch in which you are going to will not make much of a difference. Also, how well you score on the ASVAB will determine what MOS/JOB you will be able to choose. You will be nervous because you are making your first step in a life changing process, but do not worry. You will be walked through the whole process with many others making their first steps as well. So good luck my friend! It really depends on the way your particular city gets things done. Here in Los Angeles, we are sent to a hotel and assigned a roommate, we are fed dinner and told to go to bed at 10:00 and wake up at 4:30-5 am, earlier if you want breakfast. My air force recruiter had us take the asvab 2 weeks before. The only branch I saw taking the asvab were the army but they did it the night of the hotel stay and then returned to the hotel. The next day was the physical, backround check, and swear in, it takes forever. After the physical we were fed a nasty Togo's sandwich. My reccomendation is to skip breakfast cause they will do blood work, drink a **** load of water so you pee on your first chance. Also bring a change of clothes, your diploma, SSN card, birthcertificate, your license all that good stuff but keep it close so no one steals it. It was wierd though cause no one ever asked me for those things but my recruiter told us to bring them so just make sure. Definetly bring clothes and toothbrush.
1st day is usually the asvab and 2nd day is usually the physical. They will provide the food, usually contract out to subway or something. The physical includes blood and urine testing as well as hearing and eyesight. They will also make you perform a bunch of weird exercises such as the duck walk. You should only bring what your recruiter tells you to bring and dress how they tell you to dress. You usually need to bring you social security card and birth certificate, but your recruiter should already have those. Most of everyone in there will be civilian but that does not mean that they cant or wont kick you out for being stupid, they will. Make sure to treat everyone like its a job interview which means yes sir/no sir, etc.
1st or 2nd day will depend on the center, but traditionally the paperwork and psych exams will be first.

All you need to bring is your paperwork, all your ID's, anything your recruiter said, etc.

Money for food? Yes

Money for the evening? Yes

MP3 or phone? Yes (FOR USE OUT OF CENTER)

For the physical, blood test, dental check up, standard "cough, eyes, throat" (And a "raise/lower" on your tip toe's for "Airborne qual.")

That's about it.

Hope it helps.

Sincerely,

policetac
