What are three reasons that may be a deterrent for a potential juror to get picked to serve on a jury?

-You mean to be excused by the attorneys? Any number of things, such as expressing a strong bias for or against the defendant/prosecutor or the issue; stating that they could not be unbiased in their deliberations; having had previous experience with the situation (i.e. a victim of the same kind of crime, or having been in a similar lawsuit); having a personal relationship with anyone in the case, etc.

I got excused because I told them I'd been involved in an anti-war protest seven years earlier. It was just a simple assault case, but they considered me to be biased against the police. Are you trying to ask why someone would not want to serve on a jury, or why some litigant would not want some specific person to serve on a jury?
Being heavily in favour of the death penalty, being 9 months pregnant, being surgically attached to a mobile phone or saying that they'll blog every moment in the court.
